Measuring Orphaned and Abandoned Oil & Gas Wells

With the attention around identifying and plugging leaky orphaned and abandoned oil & gas wells, we’ve been making measurements with QLM’s Quantum Gas Lidar that showcase its ability to remotely detect and quantify even low-level methane emissions from this type of infrastructure (i.e. an open pipe or well casing). Below are some examples of leaks of various sizes diffusing out of such open pipes.
